In our words…
We started out just a dream. A twinkle in our founder Desmond Foulstone’s eyes.
Our founder, Desmond Foulstone, a hospitality aficionado, wanted to float an event catering company that lived up to its promise. A catering company dedicated to delivering a sustainable “farm-to-kitchen-to-table” culinary experience in an event setting.
Lo and behold something delicious happened – one catered event to a friend’s 50th became hundreds of catered events, a ten-member catering outfit became a 100 + strong crew; and catering just special occasions became large event catering. Thanks to word-of-mouth and life-long fans, today, we’ve grown exponentially to become one of the most sort after caterer to some of Melbourne’s most prestige and memorable events.

But our larger purpose expands beyond that. Far beyond!
We believe that catering is more than just food on a plate. For us at Silverline Caterers; it’s about the ingredients we so thoughtfully source, the food we so lovingly prepared…it’s about the elements we so beautifully present, the relationship we build with our clients, and most importantly it’s about the people we work with and the community we serve.
That’s the Silverline Caterers way of being. We live it every day.

Meet Desmond Foulstone
Silverline Caterers was founded by hospitality aficionado Desmond Foulstone, who combined his passion for great food and cultures into a modern, sustainable event catering outfit that has grown exponentially.

Originally from Colombo, Sri Lanka, Desmond entered the hospitality industry at a very young age as a waiter. His ability to work well with others paired with outstanding service quickly launched his career, and he soon found himself working for some of the world’s leading hotel and restaurant chains, both here in Australia and overseas.

A hospitality graduate from Cornell University, New York, and a background in Food & Beverage management with education in various hospitality disciplines, Desmond is a very well-respected hospitality veteran both here and overseas. His role as Director of Food and Beverage with famous hotel groups required extensive travel throughout the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the U.S, giving him the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in event planning and culinary arts.
As Managing Director of Silverline Caterers, Desmond Foulstone brings over 45 Years + hospitality and event planning experience to the company. His unique blend of expertise, love of food, sense of taste and culture, travel experience, and professionalism contributed to his success in the event catering business. Presiding and managing over 50 events a year with his team, Desmond has built an event catering outfit whose goal is nothing but to deliver memorable moments at each one of our events. From Melbourne’s most prestige and memorable dinner dances and special events to lavish weddings, Desmond’s attention to detail, dedication and preparedness ensures that everyone on his team is up to the task and every event is expertly handled.
